Romeo + Juliet. A modern day perspective.

So, back in grade 6... I looved this movie.
Well I was more in total little girl crush with Leonardo DiCaprio (like every other girl in the world) but this movie was so intense and I just love love loved it!
This version of Romeo+Juliet has modern day aspects yet what I absolutely loved about it, they kept the feel of Shakespeare in this movie by using the same written language as in the play and kept the names of the cities and the names of the characters the same. This time with modern music, modern day illegal things (guns and drugs... what could go wrong) and of course Leo.
Adorable.
Gosh, he looks young here. Crazy to think that he was 22 in the movie (1996)
even more mind boggling, he will be 40 in a few years!
He is so pretty.
I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Claire Danes, but she was a cutie in this movie.
but he is just so pretty ;)

Love this movie.
Rated 10 +++++

D.Bag.

Hello Mr. Douche Bag.
All I have to say is...
Seriously, Jesse James? Seriously?

Ugh. You even look like a total douche bag.
Ha ha if you google "adultery" guess who comes up ;)

I mean, I'm sure not everything was roses and sunshine in their personal life, but no one deserves such blatant disrespect.
Especially since the rumour was it was during Sandra's "The Blind Side" movie.
That movie is about the power of family and second chances, and doing right by the people you care about... and then this happens to a very sweet and caring woman.
(I don't actually know her personally, but she seems so darn nice!!)

Not cool, Jesse James! Not cool!!!

Mmm Mojitos.

i love mojitos.

I recently discovered them a few months ago and I physically cannot get enough of them.
They are cool, refreshing and just so yummy.
I have tried a few different ways to make them, and there are a few different ways.
Here is the best way I have found...

Ingredients needed:
2-3 oz of light rum
1 oz of lime juice
2 tsp. of sugar
2-4 mint sprigs
soda water
1 lime

Instructions:
To make a fancy finishing touch:
1. Before putting wet ingredients in highball glass, take the lime and cut it in 4 quartres, use a knife and make a small slice in the middle of the lime. put the lime on the rim of the glass and slide it around the entire rim of the glass.

2. with a small bowl of sugar handy, dip the rim of the glass in the sugar so it has the frosted look.

3. Lightly muddle the mint and sugar with a splash of soda water in a mixing glass until the sugar dissolves and you smell the mint.
4.Squeeze the lime juice into the glass, add rum and shake with ice.
5. In the highball glass garnished with sugar rim, put ice and remaining slices of lime - strain over cracked ice.
6. Top with soda water and garnish with mint sprigs and serve.

Mmmm Mojitos!

Camera Fetish.

I have a slight addiction to taking pictures.
My mom was always the one out of all of her sisters and brothers to have a camera during the family functions, special events for our family, etc.
I have always loved taking pictures, capturing rare fun moments and having them frozen in time where I can go back and relive the moment in time where the picture was taken place.
It started out with a simple disposable camera, the pre-digital era ;) I guess that's almost as old as the dinosaurs now... ha ha!
After the disposable camera, I had a polaroid camera. Where you take a picture and the picture is developed instantly.

It's a shame they stopped mass-producing the paper for the pictures to be developed on. I guess those who have them now, should be cautious when they want to develop pictures.

Then the digital world took off :)
For my high school graduation present, my parents bought me a very good quality Canon camera. It was my first digital and I took it absolutely everywhere. It went to school with me, to restaurants, to the movies, to my job to the carribean, everywhere!!
I literally wore it out.
After that camera died, I actually went about 6 months with no camera, and for someone like me, that is HUGE. I priced around for a while. I had a big trip coming up and I wanted a good camera.
Finally I heard about the Canon Powershot and looked into the camera features and discovered I really enjoyed what I was reading and decided to buy myself one :)
... and I was not at all disappointed. Not in the slightest. I loved everything about this camera :)
It was sturdy, reliable and it held its ground. Especially after accidentally dropping it, throwing it into my bag or purse, lots of drunken nights that I cannot remember and don't want to remember what I might have put this poor camera through.
and surprisingly, it is still in decent shape, I will definitely keep using it until it is no longer usable.

My newest addition to my camera fetish is the new SLR cameras that have been the latest hype, and let me tell you... I have never taken such a clear and perfect picture in my life...

Isn't she a beauty?
I got her for an excellent deal on boxing day sale!
It took a little getting used to since the zoom in manual now and the focus is manual now, but its the best present I have ever bought for myself.
The pictures I have been able to take, are just unbelievable.
I leave for a Mediterranean cruise in a little over 1 month, wait until you see the pictures I will post.

Excited :)

My next camera I would like to look into...

Don't they just look utterly fantastic?
I would absolutely love to purchase one of these babies and then possibly look into finding a way to make it into a camera that after I take the pictures, I use a port and download them onto the computer, so sorta like a digital camera, yet not quite ;)
Either way, I will have one!

Full Luxurious Hair

I have always been a little unlucky with my hair.
When I was a child, I had natural brunette hair with natural highlights that lightened every summer from the sun and endless hours in the local outdoor pool or at the beach.
When I started swimming competitively, my lovely hair was immediately doomed to die a painful death.
Chlorine is probably one of the worst things you can leash on your body. It completely dries up skin, leaving itchy, irritable mess behind, and as I found out the hard way, it can damage hair to the point where you shed hair in your sleep. When I first discovered clumps of hair on my pillows in the morning (I was often up at 5am to go to swim practice) I would notice this about my lovely hair and just cry. I was terrified of going bald and not knowing what to do, I didn't think I could survive the forseeable future torment my schoolmates would have unleashed on me.
My parents bought me every possibly shampoo/conditioner/creme that would not damage hair from chlorine, but unfortunately, there really wasn't any shampoo or conditioner that could protect my hair from all things.
Eventually, I started to swim less and less - school work, boys, friends, family and other other activites got in the way. I thought for sure once I slowed down on swim practices, my hair would come back. Unfortunately, that was not the case... my poor hair never officially grew back to what it was. My hair also never recovered from the constant torture it was under. It just became a dried up brunette colour, not very pretty.
Luckily, my mom was more than happy to allow me to spruce up my hair with highlights, and other colours to make my hair less damaged looking.
I've always loved the look of really long thick hair. It really was a cute look.
A couple months ago a friend of mine was telling me about hair extensions she got put in from a salon in town. It was the type of extensions that you knot up and glue in, looks painful and expensive.
I have to admit the extensions did look really good on her and I started researching other ways to get hair extensions without putting more damage to my hair.
and then...
